This Sem-Train course caters to Licensed Professional Engineers who are interested in refreshing their understanding of some of the terms and concepts associated with the practice of engineering, the code of ethics, and conduct professional engineers are expected to abide by. After defining some of the terms and concepts pertaining to the practice of engineering, the course segues into the rules of professional conduct. Three rules of professional conduct are reviewed. Each of the three rules of conduct and the terms and concepts associated with the practice of engineering are illustrated through multiple case studies. Some of these case studies are conducted in the form of live classwork in which participants are encouraged to identify and discuss the most ethical courses of action based on the professional engineering rules of conduct. In addition, this course addresses the drivers behind engineers’ moral disengagement and ethical dilemma that often tends to lead them astray. This course also, briefly, delves into the concerns beginning to erupt with the rise of AI; its pros and cons related to the practice of engineering.
Who can benefit from this course:
• Licensed Professional Engineers, who need to meet the annual or biennial license renewal PDH (Professional Development Hour) or CEU (Continuing Education Unit) requirements.
• Engineers who aspire to attempt and pass their FE, Fundamentals of Engineering, NCEES exam.
• Other professionals whose annual PLP, Performance and Learning Program, include engineering ethics courses, training, or seminars.

This course covers key articles of the NFPA 70, aka, The National Electrical Code, and an update of 2023 changes. This course is designed so that even non-electrical engineers and non-electricians can learn the basic tenets of the NEC. Upon attending this course, participants will be able to identify codes pertaining to various electrical equipment installations. Participants will learn the methodology associated with analyzing and interpreting key articles in the National Electrical Code. Some key calculations related to the application of the code will be illustrated, followed by class exercises for knowledge reinforcement purposes. The main focus of this course is low voltage (0 to 1000V). The major updates in the 2023 revision of the code will be covered. In order to enhance the participants’ understanding of the line current differences between three-phase AC, “Y” and “∆ - Delta” configurations - in the selection and application of protective devices - methods for calculating three-phase AC currents in “Y” and “∆ - Delta” loads will be covered. This course is designed for electrical engineers, non-electrical engineers with some electrical background, licensed electrical professional engineers, maintenance engineers, engineering managers, facilities managers and other professionals who are not familiar or current on National Electrical Code.
